A Little Southern Charm, a Lot of History, and One Very Montana Crew

For a group of Montanans, a trip to Savannah, Georgia, comes with a few surprises. The architecture is different, the history stretches back centuries, the food gives you plenty of reasons to linger, and getting around town might involve a mode of transportation you are unlikely to find on your daily commute in Billings.
For our crew, every day started and ended with a ferry ride. It is not exactly the usual way to get to work around here, but it quickly became part of the experience. There is something memorable about beginning the day on the water and returning the same way after hours spent exploring a city so different from home.
Savannah has a way of rewarding those who take their time. Its historic streets, distinctive architecture, lively waterfront, and abundance of restaurants and entertainment make it a city with plenty to discover. Rather than trying to see everything at once, our group made good use of the hop-on, hop-off trolley, which offered a deeper look at the city’s history while making it easy to explore more of what Savannah has to offer.
Of course, no two people experience a destination in quite the same way. Some gravitated toward the history and sightseeing, while others found their own favorite corners of the city. A trip like this leaves room for everyone to find something they enjoy, with plenty to talk about when everyone comes back together.
For several members of the group, a visit to Tybee Island was another highlight. The coastal setting offered a change of pace and a chance to enjoy a different side of Georgia. And then there was the group outing aboard the Party Cat, which certainly lived up to its name. With the whole crew together on the water, it was a fitting way to make a few memories outside the usual workday.
That may be the best part of traveling as a team. The conversations happen somewhere other than a conference room. People discover shared interests, laugh about the same moments, and return with stories that would never have come up between appointments or across an office desk.
We spend much of our time helping people navigate one of life’s biggest decisions: where to live, where to put down roots, and what they want the next chapter to look like. Getting out and experiencing a place like Savannah is a reminder of just how much a location can shape the way people spend their time. The character of a city, its history, its gathering places, and the experiences available just beyond your front door all become part of the story.
Savannah gave our team plenty to explore, from its historic streets to its coastal escapes. The ferry rides added an unexpected daily ritual, the trolley helped us see more of the city, and the Party Cat gave everyone a reason to gather for one more adventure.
We came home with photographs, stories, and memories made together. And while we are always happy to be back in Montana, we are grateful for the chance to experience somewhere new as a team.
We may be a long way from the Georgia coast, but we brought a little Southern charm home with us.
